Is a Ring in Your Future?

More couples get engaged at the holidays than any other time; is a ring in your future?

It’s that time of year again.

And for young couples ready to take that next big step in their relationship, it’s the best time of the year.

December is the most popular month to purchase engagement rings, according to data from National Jeweler Magazine, with 12.3 percent of rings being sold in the that month. And 19 percent of all engagements take place in December according to data from the Fairchild Bridal Group.

“I think people do want to give the ultimate gift for the holidays,” said Amanda Gizzi, spokeswoman for Jewelers of America. “What’s a more ultimate gift than an engagement ring?”
Maybe it’s that Christmas feeling that gives would-be grooms the guts to pop the question and renders brides-to-be more starry-eyed.

Mistletoe and matrimony

“I think it’s just that time of year —we’re into gift-giving,” said Nancy Pina, host of the TV series “Right Relationships.” “We all want to be in good relationships regardless of the time of year.” And at Christmas, she notes, we’re all just more sentimental.

For the most part, Pina says, it’s not a bad idea, “as long as you’re in a good relationship and you’ve talked about it.”

“If either of you are not ready, if you’re not or she’s not, the holidays are not going to change that,” she said.

All of which leads this reporter to ask a very special person a very important question:
Rachel, I really do love you — I can’t believe that God’s given me the world’s most lovable geek, smartest woman, and most beautiful girl with those dark brown eyes.

I’ve been humbled over the last year to find that you love me too, with all of my imperfections, and I can only pray for the grace to learn to love you more.

Will you marry me?
